A Message from Sister ‘Asmaa
I received an email yesterday from Br. Salah in Egypt, he had just returned from his class with the son of Dr. Saleh as-Saleh in which he teaches him Qur’aan. Br. Salah has previously shared with us his experiences and meetings with Dr. Saleh in the comments section of the “On the Passing of Shaykh, Dr. Saleh as-Saleh” post. A few days ago he printed off all of your comments so that he could share them with Dr. Saleh’s children in Egypt. The comments gave great joy to their hearts and as such Dr. Saleh’s daughter wrote a quick note that Br. Saleh typed up yesterday and then emailed to me asking that I post it:
I’m Asmaa…
The daughter of Dr. Saleh as-Saleh (May Allah have mercy upon him), after reading all of what you said about my father and how he benefited you, I don’t know what to say.
I live in Egypt and because of my father’s responsibility he didn’t have time to visit us alot. So, he used to call me every now and then before fajr to make sure that me and my brother were awake to pray. I remember also he called me a month ago to remind me of fasting the 9th and the 10th of Moharam and this call took place before fajr so that I could have suhur.
During his short visits to us in Egypt (which lasted for approximately 7 days), he used to spend alot of time preparing for his online classes and meeting some Egyptian people such as akh Salah. At first I used to feel jealous as he dedicated most of his time to da’wah, even sometimes, he gave lessons in Eid. However, later I began to understand how happy he was while teaching others about Islam. Also I understood that every Muslim should have a Message to deliver as well as duty towards his society.
Another thing I recall is how happy he was when he was telling me about a woman who embraced Islam (I don’t remember her name). I will never forget the expressions of his face and how he kept on saying, Mash’Allah after one of his students informed him about her embracing to Islam.
His last visit to Egypt was 3 months ago. Before leaving he reminded me of keeping away from anything that anger Allah. In his last telephone call to me, he told me that he cannot sleep because of his worries about us, specially Abdurhmaan and that we should adhere to Islam teachings.
I wish I had had more time to spend with him but it’s God’s will and no one can challenge it. May Allah forgive him, have mercy upon him and may Allah grant him Jannat Al-Firdous. Ameen, Ameen.
Asalaam alaikum warahmatullaahi wabarakatuh
Subhanallaah. May Allaah grant your father janaah firdauws and unit you and your love ones in janaah and make your father be among His most beloved servants. Reading your message I feel tears subhanallaah. Your father was a very mashallaah intelligent man mashallaah tabarakallaah. I recall on thursday night a day before he passwed away rahimullaah I Was visiting my dear sis, and there I met a new sis whom I heardly knew and we started to talk about the lessons which your father gives us (on paltalk) and in this convesation we mentioned about how sometimes he would joke with his students and ask us to put one just to make sure everyone is benefitting and not sleeping the famous one 1, one of the sisters said ‘yes subhanallaah when I first attended his classes I was very dumb but after attending and taking offline lessons I felt a part of my brain open and started to feel like had this hidden talent of knowing the deen and truly… when Allaah wants good for someone he blesses him with understanding of the deen subhanallaah so the sisters wanted this new sister to also benefit and learn from our beloved sheikh and mashallaah she was interested in this and qadr allaah the next day he pass away rahimullaah! Alhamdulillaah we still have alot to learn and many many audio and beneficial books and articles up there. He left us alot of precious teachings mashallaah tabarakallaah!!
